Knole Park Junior teams in the National quarter finals!

Knole Park juniors all won again in the England Hockey summer championships and are now through to the National Quarter Finals in all age groups!

Knole Park U16 Girls produce another magical display!

Knole Park U16 Girls continue to set the pace in the EH Cup. A resounding 12-1 win against Brighton was a remarkable result at this stage of the competition. A double hat-trick from Olivia, two goals from Anna and singles from Elen, Annabel, Amelie and Polly saw the girls cruise in the quarter finals.

The scoring started with an excellent drag-flick from Elen. Olivia then scored her first after some great skill from Jess to slice through the Brighton defence. Olivia claimed her second after some excellent skills from Anna from a set-piece. 3-0. The fourth goal was truly magnificent! A wonderful team goal involving most of the team saw Annabel roll in – wow! Just before half time a mishap in defence meant we conceded a penalty corner which was well hit into the bottom corner. 4-1 at half time.

The second half couldn’t have started better. Olivia taking the ball from the centre to score! Amelie finished off another wonderful sweeping move to make it six, before Polly scored her goal after turning the ball over in the press. Some excellent skills and a good strike from Josefina saw Olivia convert the rebound for her fourth of the match. The individual magic of the match came from the stick of Anna however as she took on the Brighton defence before coolly lifting the ball over the on rushing goalkeeper. Another superb run from Jess put Olivia in again – 10-1 – before Anna converted another beautiful sweeping move from defence to attack! The final goal of the match was a brilliant penalty corner move that Olivia converted for her double hat-trick!

The girls produced some outstanding hockey throughout the match! The girls play Guildford in the National quarter finals next weekend.

Knole Park U14 Girls win local derby!

Knole Park U14 Girls beat Sevenoaks HC 4-2 in the latest local derby. Goals from Amber, Mackenzie, Summer and Charlotte were enough for the victory in an exciting match.

Sevenoaks took the lead on the break after 10 minutes, however moments later a ball hit a foot on the line and it was Amber who stepped up to score the penalty. At half-time the match was finely balanced at 1-1.

In the second half, Sevenoaks once again took the lead. The reply for Knole Park took slightly longer to come this time, but through the weight of attacks it did eventually! Mackenzie smashing home from the top of the D. Into the final 5 minutes and it was Knole Park who secured the win. Charlotte converted an excellent penalty corner strike before Summer took on the whole Sevenoaks team to flick home! 4-2 it finished in an absolute thriller!

Both teams played fantastically and should be commended for their efforts in the searing heat. It is however the girls from Knole Park that progress to now face Surbiton HC in the quarter finals in what will no doubt also be a thrilling match!

The U14 Boys win at Surbiton!

The U14 Boys beat Surbiton 4-2 in their last 16 match. Two goals from talisman Isaac, plus goals from James and Louis were enough to win the game.

Louis started the scoring with a fantastic finish after Moritz, the wizard in midfield put him through. James scored a very good penalty corner move to make it 2-0 at half-time.

The second half was a similar story; however Surbiton came out fighting and a turnover in midfield was capitalised on to make it 2-1. Isaac however had other ideas for the outcome of the match and a penalty corner finish and solo effort made it 4-1. A late consolation goal for Surbiton made the final score 4-2.

The boys now host Norwich in the National quarter final next weekend.

As one of only a few clubs to still have teams in all their respective competitions shows that the success of the junior section at Knole Park continues to thrive over the summer! Read next week for the next installment!

KP Mixed exit EH Plate competition

On Sunday Knole Park’s Mixed team hosted Gore Court at home for the first round of the England Hockey Plate competition. KP went in looking to play positive attacking hockey and have fun. Both teams fielded some siblings and families, with David, Phoebe and Will Gough-Cooper all in the KP team! Gore Court had a young and strong team with some exceptionally speedy men!

Knole Park had the first attacks of the game in the first quarter and played well, with leads from our forwards creating opportunities in the circle. Unfortunately these attacks were well countered by Gore Court. In fact the three goals Gore Court scored in the first quarter were all counter attacks. The pace of their central midfielder left KP players trailing in his wake, creating some 1v1s with keeper David.

A much better second quarter saw an improved KP and some chances created by Phoebe and Sarah after some great play through midfield from Adam, Mack and Martha. Some excellent aerials from Steve also created chances but the Gore Court defence swept up effectively.

The second half saw another 3 good goals from Gore Court from penalty corners and some good attacking play. Phoebe scored for KP as she picked up a loose ball into the D from Adam, and showing great composure, wrong-footed the keeper before slotting it home.

Unfortunately there were no more goals and the KP team are therefore out of the competition, but the game was played in excellent spirit and we enjoyed hosting the very friendly Gore Court team for a drink afterwards. We wish them luck in the next round of the EH Plate competition.
