Knole Park U10 Girls are free scoring as they win Bronze at the Copper Box!
Knole Park U10 Girls entered their first indoor tournament at the Copper Box over the Christmas break. A chance to play against teams from all over the south of England and for them to experience their first regional level event. In the perfect start, the girls won 4-0 against Old Loughtonians (Essex) – goals from Liliya Dale, Lila Hughes and a brace from Emily Bingham. The second match was much tougher, and Hertford scored a deserved goal to win the match 1-0. This spurred the girls on and they won three of the final four matches against Teddington (Middlesex), Wimbledon (Surrey), Chelmsford (Essex) scoring six goals (Liliya 2, Lila 2, Emily and Elisa Hippe) and only conceded one. With four wins and two defeats, and a great goal difference the girls secured their first ever hockey medals! Many congratulations to all the girls that played – the future is bright for Knole Park girl’s section!
Gold – Hertford HC
Silver – Surbiton HC
Bronze – HC Knole Park
Overall, the club is exceptionally proud of all of its members for how they played across the 3-day competition. With very limited indoor experience in the lower age groups, all the children played some fantastic indoor hockey, improved throughout their tournaments and had fun whilst doing it! For the U14 Girls; you continue to amaze and impress! We wish you all the best with your preparation for the National Finals over the next few weeks.
This is the first tournament where Knole Park have entered multiple teams and it was great to see the club camaraderie developing already.
Congratulations to our Director of Hockey, Duncan Parnis, who has coached all the teams over the last few weeks in preparation for the Copper Box, and to Ruth Bingham for her invaluable coaching support and team management.
For those that took home medals – many congratulations! 2020 is going to be a fantastic year!
