HC Knole Park U16 Girls win gold at the Copper Box!


HC Knole Park’s U16 Girls won gold at the #indoorhockeyUK Championships on Monday. The girls won all six matches amassing an incredible 64 goals and only conceding twice. England star forward Olivia was on top form as she netted 24 goals! Fellow England team mate Lottie scored 20 goals as the girls were in top form to claim the title.


In match one the girls played Wimbledon HC. In an excellent start to the tournament Olivia scored twice in the first half for a 2-0 lead. In the second half the match opened up for Knole Park and two goals from Mackenzie, as well as singles for Lottie and Summer gave the girls a perfect start to the tournament, winning 6-1.


In match two, the deadly combination of Olivia and Lottie combined on several occasions to give the girls a 7-0 lead against Old Loughtonians HC at the half. Olivia and Lottie both scoring first half hat-tricks. Bella scored the other goal. In the second half, two more goals from Lottie, one more goal for Olivia, as well as another for Bella gave the girls an 11-0 win.


In match three it was once again Olivia and Lottie who capitalised on some excellent turnovers in the Epsom HC defence, both claiming first half hat-tricks. In the second half Olivia scored three more to take her total to six, Lottie scored twice more for five and Bella scored to make it 12-0.


In match four the girls were flying and recorded their biggest win of the day as they won 16-0 against Hertford HC. Another first half hat-trick for Olivia was added to by a Lottie brace, and goals from Summer and Jessica. In the second half Olivia added two more for her five, Lottie one more for a hat-trick and there were additional goals for Bella, Mackenzie, and Jessica. There was also a hat-trick for Josefina as she came into the tournament with a big impact.


In the final group match Chelmsford HC provide a very stern test to start, however once the first goal went in from Olivia the match opened up and further goals came. Lottie scored a hat-trick, before Jessica and Olivia scored one each to make the score to 6-0 at half-time. In the second half it was the penalty corners from Lottie that made the difference as she netted twice, as well as setting up Josefina for two and Jessica for one. Olivia claimed one more from open play for a 12-0 win.


In the final the girls faced Cambridge City HC, who had won the other group. The girls were full of positivity and confidence, and it was Josefina who opened the scoring with a well-executed 1v1 against the goalkeeper. Olivia then added two from close range for a 3-0 half-time lead. Lottie scored within seconds of the second half starting for 4-0, before Olivia added two more and Mackenzie added icing to the performance with the seventh and the girls were crowned champions!
