Match Report 1st/2nd May

An Evie Smith hat-trick gives Whites the win!

(Saturday Mix-in Fun!)

On Saturday, Knole Park hosted another Saturday mix-in for their club members. Still getting back into our hockey it was another great social occasion as everyone enjoyed the opportunity to mix up with other age groups and club mates for a really great game of hockey.

The game started at a Saturday morning pace and it was the Navy team that capitalised most. Celia Foster turned over the White’s centre back before slamming home a great reverse stick shot. Debutant Alessia Turner then scored as she rounded a couple of the White defenders to slot home.

As the half progressed the White team awoke from their slumber. An excellent carry and selfless pass from Louis van den Rijse was played goal wards by Talya Harvey and finished off by Evie Smith to make it 2-1 to Navy. Amber Croll who played well throughout the match in midfield then made it 2-2 with a very composed drag-flick after a dynamic run through from midfield by Duncan from the Whites. 2-2 at half-time.

The second half was once again a competitive match, but as the White team had reflected on their first half they were clearly more motivated and played with a renewed focus. First Evie glided through the Navy defence to score her second of the match, before Amber also did the same to claim her second. 4-2 to Whites.

An individual effort from Josefina Hippe brought the game close again, however an immediate reply from Duncan gave the Whites their two goal advantage again. 5-3. Sarah Eversfield showed once again that practice on the training pitch can convert into goals in matches as she threaten to use her tomahawk again before dragging the ball back underneath to round the goalkeeper and slot the ball home. 6-3. In the final few minutes Steve Innes converted a stupendous drag flick to give the Navy team hope of a win, however this was immediately dashed by Evie has she converted an excellent backhand strike from an acute angle on the final whistle to make the final score 7-4 to the Whites. Well played to everyone involved!

U10 & U12 Boys & Girls Indoor Championships (2nd May)

In a return of the Knole Park Indoor Championships the U10 & U12 Boys and Girls had their opportunity to play. The level of the tournament was exceptionally high as everyone enjoyed the opportunity to play some matches once again.

In Match 1 Liliya was on fire as she led her team to a 4-3 win with a great hat-trick. Goals also came from Olivia, Bea (2) & Victoria.

In Match 2 it was Victoria who starred as she scored 4 goals as her team won 5-2. Elisa, Ted & Emily B also scored.

Match 3 was a much closer game. Olivia & Mali put their team 2-0, before Annie pulled a goal back. Liliya claimed another goal in the tournament to put them 3-1 up, however Ted slammed home two goals to tie the game up at 3-3.

In Match 4 it was a Bea who scored the all-important 4th and 5th goals for her team as they ran out 5-3 winners. Earlier Lucas, Liliya, Victoria (2) and Olivia (2) had scored to make it 3-3.

Match 5 was the only one sided match of the day as team Erin ran out 10-1 winners! Goals from Victoria, Bea (4), Lucas (3) & Elisa, before Erin scored her first of the day gave them the big victory. Annie scoring for the opposition wasn’t quite enough for this game.

Match 6 once again saw a number of very well taken goals as team Olivia won 5-1. Jude, Mali, Olivia (2) & Liliya all scoring, with Annie scoring the only goal for the opposition.

A short break, coaching intervention and a mix up of the teams and we were back on it!

In Match 7 it was Emily B who sprung to life scoring twice in a 4-1 win. The other goals coming from Olivia, Ted and Mali.

Match 8 saw Emily B once again back in the goals as she claimed 4 in a 6-3 win. Goals from Victoria and Erin, as well as Lucas (2) and Bea completed the scoring.

Match 9 was a great match as the score line ebbed and flowed throughout. Bea, Elisa & Lucas all scored twice for their teams, with Liliya and Olivia adding their own contributions to a 5-3 win.

And to the final match of the day! U10 star Olivia scored twice to help her team to a great 3-1 win. The other goals coming from Victoria and Elisa!

In a wonderful morning of indoor hockey it was great to see so much enthusiasm and energy, as well as expertise and precision with the indoor hockey. The U10 and U12 Boys and Girls were superb from start to finish, including getting the equipment out and away - well done to all that were involved!
