Match Report 5th Sept 2020

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

HC Knole Park Men’s 1st team are all systems go!

HC Knole Park start pre-season with a win! A double hat-trick from Duncan Parnis and a single from Maarten de Widt was just about enough to seal a win in a 7-5 thriller against Marden Hockey Club Men’s 3s.

In an entertaining and very open match the final score ended 7-5 to Knole Park. Player-Coach Duncan Parnis picked up where he left off last season with a double hat-trick. Four of Parnis’ goals came from penalty corners strikes, as well as scoring two very well taken open play goals - one forehand and one backhand - the full set! A superb strike from Maarten de Widt to add to those goals was enough to out-score a very good Marden team in a very enjoyable match for all.

David Gough-Cooper was excellent between the sticks having really improved throughout pre-season, and his son Will was excellent up front. Nik Hebden played his best match so far for the club up top too, linking well with the on rushing midfield of dad Matt and the goal-scoring Maarten. The perfect pre-season friendly on a barmy early September evening!

With the league starting in three weeks’ time the team are excited as to what the season may bring! A few new signings, a new league and with some very talented juniors - it should be a fun year!
