Senior Match report 16th Nov 2019

Men’s 1st team come up short in top of the table clash! HC Knole Park’s Men’s 1st team travel to west London to play second in the league Barnes HC. Having both made excellent starts to the season the team knew they would have to be full strength and, on their game, to get anything out of the match. Unfortunately, on this occasion, Barnes were too strong for the young HC Knole Park team and deservedly won the match.

Knole Park might have taken the lead through Fin Webster & Adam Ward linking up on the break, however the effort went just wide. Duncan Parnis also had a chance at a penalty corner, but it was well defended. Barnes proved why they were top of the league as they moved the ball around superbly. Thirty minutes into the match the pressure started to tell and a slick move by Barnes put them 1-0 up at half time.

The second half was a much more even match with chances for both teams, however some superb goal-keeping from Barnes kept the Knole Park attack at bay. Barnes scored a slightly fortuitous second goal mid-way through the half to make it 2-0 and that’s how it stayed until full time. Debutant Luke Dimond was voted Player of the Match and put in a sublime performance at right half! The team look forward to welcoming Barnes to Knole Park in the new year for what will no doubt be another fantastic match!

Debutant & Player of the Match

Next week the team travel to Dulwich to play HAC Sutlers who along with Knole Park have the meanest defensive record! Lots of shooting practice required at training this week!
