Superb weekend for HC Knole Park!

HC Knole Park’s weekend started with a bang as the Women’s 1s won their top of the table clash with New Beccehamians 16-1. New Beccehamians had been top of the league all season, so the team were looking forward to the match. The match started fantastically as Lottie’s first penalty corner was stopped on the line with a stray foot, so a penalty stroke was awarded and she duly converted. Sasha scored next after a mazy dribble from Mackenzie. Lottie then scored four more goals took the score to 6-0 after 20 minutes. Amelie scored her first of the day with a thunderbolt strike from the top of the D after some wonderful team play. Charlotte with the final pin point pass to put Amelie in. Amelie also converted twice more for a hat-trick; once from the penalty spot after Lottie hit another foot on the line and her third was also set-up by Lottie. Mackenzie Ward also score before half-time after a good pass by Alessia to make it 10-0.

The second half was more of the same as Lottie completed her triple hat-trick. Assists from Jess, Bea & Cordy all gave her a helping hand as she blasted through the NB's defence to score. Alessia and Jess both scored from close range too from Lottie who turned provider to make the final score 16-1 to Knole Park. Next week the team host Blackheath and Elthamians. The Women’s 2s received a walkover from Gillingham Anchorians and remain top of their league too.

On Sunday it was Finals Day for HC Knole Park’s U16A Girls. In a three-way play-off the girls played Brighton and Hove HC and Guildford HC. The winners would be crowned South-East Tier 1 Champions. In match one against Brighton the girls drew 1-1. Lottie scored in the first half, before Brighton equalised in the second half on a rare break into the Knole Park half.

In match two Guildford beat Brighton 6-1 so it would be a winner takes all in the final match.

Against Guildford the girls produced some scintillating hockey to win 5-2. Goals from Olivia (2), Polly, Bella and Lottie gave the girls the win and with it the Championships! Lottie was on hand to set-up both of Olivia's goals. Their partnership and goalscoring has been superb over the last 6 seasons and clearly isn't showing any signs of slowing down now! Polly's goal was also set-up by Lottie as she entered the D through the baseline and passed to Polly for her to slot in. Bella scored from the pressing of Olivia and Phoebe, leaving her with a 1v1 against the goalkeeper and she coolly finished. Lottie's goal was a superb penalty corner. Pascale in goal, the defence of Summer, Amber, Josefina and Jess were excellent throughout and got better and better throughout the matches. Charlotte, Grace, Lottie and Olivia were outstanding in midfield and the forward line of Phoebe, Mackenzie, Polly & Bella played well throughout the day. The girls now progress through to the England Hockey Supra League in 2022.

Knole Park’s U16B Girls were also in action on Sunday. Facing Canterbury U16A the girls started exceptionally well. Two goals from Biba and Elsa respectively gave the girls a 2-0 half-time lead. Biba's was a delightful backhand strike after rounding the on-rushing goalkeeper. Canterbury played very well in the second half to bring it back to 2-2 and looked very likely to win the match, but a superb counter-attack from Knole Park saw Ella roll the ball into the goal for the winner! Biba credited with the initial steal in the midfield!

The U14B Girls also played Canterbury on Sunday. Goals from Daisy (2), Mali (2), Phoebe and Lucy gave the girls a resounding 6-0 win!

The U14A Boys Finals were postponed for frozen pitches.
