U10 Girls win the Marden Hockey Club Festival!

HC Knole Park’s U10 Girls played in the Marden HC Festival this weekend at the brand new Marden Sports Club. The subzero conditions failed to dampen the enthusiasm of the girls who all arrived in high spirits looking forward to an exciting morning of hockey. After an energetic warm up the girls were ready to play in their first fixture against Marden and despite dominating the possession unfortunately lost 1-0. This prompted the girls to move through the gears against Folkstone and two other Marden teams winning 2-0, 3-0 and 5-0 respectively. The goals came via the outstanding skills of Lila Hughes and Bea Foster and midfield strength of Farrah Hilden.

Two tighter games followed against Canterbury, however some excellent tackling and ball carrying from Georgina Grimshaw and Caitlin Aldrich helped create further goal scoring opportunities for Beatrice Foster and Lila who duly converted in each game respectively to win both 1-0.

After six excellent games of hockey HC Knole Park were top of the group and festival winners! Lila top scored with seven goals and Beatrice contributed with four goals. Overall an excellent morning of hockey which demonstrated the depth in talent down the HC Knole Park age groups. Well done to all involved!
