U13A Girls win bronze at Tony Smith Tournament on Sunday!

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

On Sunday HC Knole Park’s U13A Girls travelled to Surrey to compete in the Tony Smith Tournament at Surbiton HC. The girls got off to a slow start in match one against Guildford as despite dominating the match only a single strike from Connie gave the girls a 1-0 win. In match two against Surbiton Hawks the girls were much better and goals from Erin and Emily B gave the girls a 2-0 win. In match three the girls met an inspired Wimbledon side who scored two excellent penalty corner strikes. Only one goal from Connie C for Knole Park meant it was defeat for the girls, 2-1. Next up were Surbiton Eagles who were very good and beat Knole Park 2-0. In the final group match against London Wayfarers the girls were back to their best again and ran out comfortable 3-1 winners. Goals from Georgie and Connie (2). The girls progressed to the bronze medal match against Reading which they completed dominated from start to finish. The match was settled by a late Georgie 1v1 where she coolly slotted the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper. On a very cold day, where goals were hard to come by, the girls still had a great time and deserved their bronze medals.

Next stop, the Copper Box Championships in late December. HC Knole Park offer indoor hockey to every member and have teams entered into the U12 Boys, U12 Girls, U14 Boys, U14 Girls, U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U18 Girls, and Women’s competitions.
