Knole Park U12 Boys started their season in fantastic fashion with two wins and a draw in the East Grinstead tournament on Sunday. The team beat Brighton 6-1, and Guildford 3-1, and drew 3-3 with East Grinstead to finish top of the group! Goals were spread throughout the team with Player of the Day Isaac Dale top scoring with six goals. Centre Forward, Moritz Hippe scored one goal in each game. Mack Copp scored two and Artie Paice one goal! Well done boys!
U14A Girls win in season opener!
The U14A Girls won their first match of the Home Counties Premier League against Canterbury HC. Having spent about 4-5 weeks training with just friendly matches the girls couldn’t wait to get started with the league. They came flying out of the blocks and an early goal from Lottie Bingham settled any nerves and got the girls off to the perfect start. Further goals from Phoebe Gough-Cooper and new signing Ella Walker meant the score was 3-0 at half time.
A much improved second half saw the girls push on and score three more goals from Player of the Match Phoebe Gough-Cooper to take her to four for the day. Lottie added her second of the day and Anna Faulstich added two more to take the final score to 9-0 to Knole Park.
The Canterbury goalkeeper deserves a special mention for an unbelievable performance between the sticks – well done to her! Congratulations to the girls on a great start to the season! Next up are Surbiton HC.
U14A Boys lose on the Counter!
The U14A Boys first league match of the season was against Canterbury HC. In what was always going to be a tough opener, the boys started very well. In a very competitive first half the team conceded 15 minutes in. Despite this set back, the team rallied and scored an instant goal back through new signing Will Huddy. Further opportunities to take the lead came and went, which would eventually cost Knole Park as they conceded a goal on the break just before half-time (1-2).
The second half was relatively even as both teams had chances, however the more clinical Canterbury U14 boys showed how to take your chances hitting Knole Park five times on the break and taking the game beyond Knole Park to win the game 6-1. Despite the loss, the boys played exceptionally well, learnt a lot and enjoyed it! Captain and Player of the Match George Glen was exceptional in midfield. The boy’s face Old Loughtonians next week where a repeat positive performance will hopefully result in a change in fortunes!
U13A Girls win Local Derby!
In the first of what will be many local derbies with Sevenoaks HC, the U13A team came out the victors on this occasion. The team are entered into the Home Counties U14 A-Team league and this was the first ever full pitch match for most of the girls having spent most of their hockey playing ½ pitch matches. Goals from Player of the Match Summer Knight-Thompson (5), Phoebe Bright (2) and Amber Croll, Betsy Burden, Lettie Hughes and Harriet Medlen saw Knole Park win 11-0. A great start to the season – well done girls!
